How It Began
We collected homes
the way some people collect art.
It started in Napa Valley — a 40-acre estate on Mt. Veeder that we fell in love with and couldn't let sit empty. We opened it to guests who would care for it the way we do, and found something unexpected: the people who came were exactly the kind of guests we had hoped for. Families celebrating something. Couples who deserved more than a hotel room. Groups of friends who wanted a week that would actually mean something.
More homes followed. A wine country retreat in St. Helena, one block from the best street in the valley. A purpose-built mountain house in Park City, three minutes from the lift. And then, most recently, the one that changes the nature of this collection entirely: an apartment on the top floor of Palazzo dell'Arcone, overlooking Piazza della Repubblica in the heart of Florence, Italy — brand new, finished in Venetian plaster and Carrara marble, above the ancient Roman forum of a city that has been at the center of civilization for two thousand years.
These are not investments or rental properties. They are homes — homes we live in, furnish with care, and maintain to a standard we would demand for ourselves. When you stay in one, you are a guest in our home. That is a different relationship than the one Airbnb sells, and we think it produces a different kind of week.
Our Standard
We only accept what we would accept ourselves.
Every mattress was chosen by sleeping on it. Every kitchen was stocked by cooking in it. Every bathroom was designed by someone who uses it. This is the advantage of a collection maintained by its owners rather than a management company: the standards are personal, not contractual.
Some of our homes are available to book directly through this site; others are also listed on Airbnb and VRBO for your convenience. In every case, reservations are handled personally — you are always communicating with the people who own and care for the home, not a management company. Direct bookings receive the best rates and our full attention from the first message.
